Castlefield Viaduct Temporary Pilot Scheme, June-September 2022

Working in partnership with the city of Manchester to help find a future for Castlefield viaduct.

We are in the early stages of a project to bring the Grade II listed Castlefield viaduct back into use, transforming it into a green oasis created by and for the benefit of local people.

With the support of partners across Manchester, we want to open the viaduct next summer as a temporary park to test ideas and to hear your feedback. Information about this proposal can be found on our website: www.nationaltrust.org.uk/castlefield-viaduct

We will need to apply for a change of use planning application in September to enable this to happen and before we do, we want to hear from you!

The following questionnaire relates to our planning application to operate a temporary scheme June–September 2022 (16 weeks). We want to hear about what’s important to you and what we need to know, so that this temporary scheme is appropriate for the site and for Castlefield. If you live or work in the area, we’d like to hear your views on our proposals. We will also be talking about the scheme at the following consultation events:

·                  Wednesday 30 June 2021, 1-2pm, hosted online
·                  Thursday 1 July 2021, 6-7pm, hosted online
·                  Tuesday 6 July 2021, 7-8pm, hosted online
·                  Thursday 22 July, 12-3pm, Museum of Science and Industry

See Castlefield viaduct page on National Trust website for more details.

If government guidance lifts, we hope to host an event on Thursday 22nd July, but this will be reliant on government restrictions being lifted on 19th July.
