SHIPOWNER/SHIP OPERATOR COMMITMENT
A Culture of Care is important to us

At Expected Level, the maritime organisation follows the essential requirements of the MLC and is committed to:

Audited compliance with the following MLC regulations and associated codes as expressed in legal instruments of the relevant flag state.

These give the essential inputs specific to seafarer health care:

  • 1.2  medical certificates
  • 1.3 training and qualifications (STCW requirements for first aid and medical care training)
  • 2.5 repatriation (for medical reasons)
  • 3.1 accommodation (provision of specified hospital facilities)
  • 3.2 food and catering (provision of healthy diet options, especially low-calorie choices for overweight crewmembers)
  • 4.1 medical care onboard and ashore (all aspects)
  • 4.3 health and safety protection (all aspects)
When applying these guidelines, it is essential that the confidentiality of all medical and personal information is safeguarded. In addition, improvements in health on board should not be achieved by discrimination in recruitment, except where this can be related to the need ‘to ensure that seafarers are medically fit to perform the duties that they are to carry out at sea.’(MLC A1.2.1).
