1. Introduction

Newburgh Green Dog Walkers' is keen to hear your views on ways to encourage more dog walkers to safely dispose of dog poo.

The survey, which is targeted at dog walkers in Aberdeen city and Aberdeenshire, takes only 10-15 minutes to complete and is anonymous. Your answers will remain confidential and only summary findings of the survey will be published.

To encourage survey returns, we are offering prizes from Glenythan Vets, Ellon, Chris Hume Vet, Ellon and Bridge Vets, Bridge of Don and Tesco Ellon has offered a bag of doggy treats! Our thanks to all our sponsors. Details of how to enter are found at the end of the questionnaire.

* 13. One English local authority is piloting DNA profiles of dogs obtained using a mouth swab and matching this to DNA obtained from dog poo to detect and fine owners. The cost of obtaining the DNA using a swab is £25 per dog payable by the owner. The cost of the DNA test on the dog poo would be £85 payable by the dog owner responsible for the fouling. However, at the moment the scheme is entirely voluntary and only those owners who volunteer their dogs are screened.
