Background

SkillsActive is the Sector Skills Council for Active Leisure, Learning and Well-Being. One of our key tasks is to produce and maintain, with the aid of employers in our sector, National Occupational Standards (NOS).

NOS specify the standard of performance an individual must achieve when carrying out a function in the workplace, together with the knowledge and understanding they need to meet that standard consistently. Essentially NOS are benchmarks of good practice.

Each National Occupational Standard defines one key function in a job role. A Standard must be a concise and readable document, usually consisting of no more than five or six pages (some are only one or two). In their essential form, NOS describe functions, standards of performance and knowledge/understanding.

The NOS which support the roles that operate in the area of Leisure Management are currently under review, and after the first round of consultations and rewrites, there is now a final opportunity to have your say about how they look. The following questionnaire is based on the re-drafted NOS which reflect the thoughts of 'experts' in the area of leisure management. The detail of this work, along with the downloadable NOS documents themselves, can be found at:

This questionnaire is open until 08/08/2017. Feedback from this UK wide consultation will then inform a second drafting of the NOS, with the new versions of the documents becoming 'live' in late 2017.

Please note that in order to maximise feedback received on the Standards, we have made most of the questions within this survey mandatory.
Thank you for your cooperation.
