Study Title: Implementing antimicrobial stewardship interventions in different healthcare settings

Study Summary:

Antimicrobial drugs are used to treat infections, and inappropriate use can render them ineffective. Across the globe initiatives are underway in hospitals to improve antimicrobial prescribing behaviours. Little is known about the influence of local cultural factors in individual healthcare organisations which may influence the development of antimicrobial stewardship programmes. In this study, we aim to investigate the influence of local culture, colleagues and policy and guidelines on the development and implementation of antimicrobial in hospitals. This will enable healthcare organisations to better target their initiatives to influence antimicrobial prescribing, to improve patient level outcomes.

What is the purpose of this study?

Antimicrobial stewardship interventions are being implemented across the globe. The purpose of this study is to find out what initiatives are taking place in the different institutions across the globe and which healthcare professionals have an active role in these initiatives.
