Education & Training Foundation - Governance Development Framework: Expression of Interest in Development Phase

The questions in this survey relate to the development phase of the Education and Training Foundation (ETF) Governance Development Programme.

ETF have commissioned Association of Colleges to develop a full Governance Development Programme, due to launch in April 2019. This comprehensive training programme for college governors comprises 24 modules at core, proficient and advanced level, and will include workshops, online training, podcasts and more.

Between January and March 2019 this programme will be in development phase. We are looking for colleges who are willing to complete free modules in their testing phase, and offer evaluation of the content and delivery in order to inform the full framework.

* 2. CORE LEVEL MODULES

Understanding your role and the role of the board & Recognising effective board behaviours

This two part module comprises:
1. Interactive online training to guide participants through the different roles and responsibilities on the board. An online assessment will follow to formalise learning.
2. A face to face workshop to enable the participant to start to develop appropriate board behaviours.

Financial management for board members

This interactive online module will lead the participant through financial management in a mock college, with summative assessment to follow.

Understanding board responsibilities for the workforce

This podcast will follow a clerk, chair and principal as they discuss their respective roles and how they work together and for the workforce.

Leading a committee

This face to face workshop introduces participants to the behaviours necessary to lead a committee. Organisations will also have the option to deliver this training in-house or regionally.

Strategic financial management and understanding funding

This self-directed module will allow the participant to explore financial management in greater depth, followed by online assessment.

Culture, people and organisational development

This face to face workshop will address in greater depth the key themes of culture, people and organisational development.

This face to face module will offer the participant one-to-one coaching to develop the skills to become an effective Chair.
