Applications

Background information and application process

AMOT, working as the Army Museums Network in the UK, has funding available from Arts Council England to support regional network activity with a view to developing a sustainable and resilient network of museums. Part of this funding has been set aside to form a bursary scheme to enable museum trustees, staff or volunteers to access events and training opportunities they would not otherwise be able to attend. This bursary fund can only be used to attend activity linked to the Army Museums into the Future project. No match funding is needed. Applicants to the bursary scheme can apply for monies to cover:

-        Travel (standard class)

-        Subsistence (up to a maximum of £25 per person per day)

-        Accommodation (up to a maximum of £100 per person per night)

-        Backfilling an existing position

We will consider all applications but particularly welcome those from museum volunteers, assistant staff, and those usually unable to attend training and conference events.

The applicant needs to demonstrate

All applicants will need to clearly demonstrate in their application:

-        How the bursary will enable them to attend the event including a detailed financial breakdown of how the monies will be spent.

-        What outcomes they expect to see as a result of attending the event both for themselves and for their organisation for example increased knowledge, skills, understanding, potential new partnerships developed

Timescale

When bursaries are available for an event / training opportunity they will be advertised at least 3 months in advance. Applications for bursaries will close 6 weeks in advance of the date of the event / training. All applicants will be notified at least 4 weeks before the date of the event / training as to whether they have been successful or not.

Assessment process

Where there are more applications than funding available, we will assess applications based on the projected impact of attendance both on the individual and their relevant organisation. We will consider all applications but where there have been more application than funding available applications from army museum volunteers, assistant staff, and those usually unable to attend training and conference events will be prioritised. All successful applicants will need to show a commitment to completing an end of project monitoring form to measure the impact of the bursaries.
