Proposed EU ban on three aquatic plant species
Please read this carefully and respond as fully as is appropriate.
The European Union is considering a ban on three commonly traded aquatic plants because they are considered invasive in parts of the EU. They are:
Gymnocoronis spilanthoides (Senegal tea plant);
Pistia stratiotes (Water lettuce);
Salvinia molesta (Salvinia)
None of the plants above present a risk in the UK and we need information on the scale and value of UK trade to help us lobby against the proposed ban.
These changes will come into effect before we leave the EU so please help us to protect your interests by giving us the data we need.
We have a very short time to present any data so please reply no later than 12 noon on Wednesday 29 November 2017. Thank you.
