As someone with responsibilities for the management of trees directly or indirectly, you are being approached to participate in a survey, commissioned by Defra, to understand the current state of trees and their management in an urban setting.  The findings from this project will feed directly into the development of Defra policy to inform and shape future strategy for this area.

Defra are keen to understand the issues affecting trees in the urban environment.  This survey is being conducted by the Tree Council with support from the Fera Science Ltd.  The survey is voluntary and the information you provide will not be used for any purpose other than for this study.  The report will present the overall findings and no individual participant or organisation will be identifiable.

In limited circumstances, Defra may be required to release information, including personal data and commercial information, on request under the Environmental Information Regulations or the Freedom of Information Act 2000.  However, Defra will not permit any unwarranted breach of confidentiality nor will we act in contravention of our obligations under the Data Protection Act 1998.
