How prepared are you? |
As a newly qualified healthcare practitioner, we need your help
If you are looking at this survey you are hopefully a newly qualified (1yr or under) Health Care Practitioner (HCP). We know this can be a very challenging and exciting time so thank you for taking 5 minutes to share your thoughts with us.
The Society of Tissue Viability is the UKs largest wound care charity and we are multi-disciplinary community of professionals united by our common aim of working together to solve skin and wound challenges. If you would like to learn a little bit more about what our organisation does you can visit us at societyoftissueviability.org
Wound prevention & management can form a significant part of some HCP roles and many newly qualified clinicians feel unprepared to tackle this diverse and sometimes complicated field unsupervised. Anecdotally, it has been suggested to us that the level of wound prevention & management education delivered to pre-registration HCPs is insufficient and this is why some newly qualified clinicians may feel this way. The Society wants to explore this further and understand how the level of education correlates with the level of preparedness and confidence newly qualified HCPs have when they begin to practice.
From this survey we can hopefully gather data and information that will provide evidence to support (or dismiss) this suggestion.
We have used two terms repeatedly within the survey – preparedness and confidence – and we have asked you to rate your level of preparedness and confidence in certain situations. For the purposes of the survey these mean the following:
- Preparedness – if you feel that you have been adequately prepared by your pre-registration education and training to tackle the particular situation that we are referring to
- Confidence – if you feel confident and happy to tackle the particular situation that we are referring to – this differs from the above as some people may have had adequate education but still unsure when making clinical decisions
