Guidance for Abstract Submissions: 

3rd Practitioner Health Psychology Conference 2019:
 
Theme: New Ways of Working in Applied Health Psychology Practice.
 
Proposals for individual practice-based oral papers or posters should be presented in the format of this abstract form. The main focus of any presentation/ poster should be on the role/s that the Health Psychologist (or trainee/ student) had in the work that was conducted (e.g. Health Psychology rationale for role, evidence base selection, models theories chosen, methods executed, outcomes analysis).
 
This conference aims to shine a light on the work that Health Psychologists are directly carrying out in applied/ therapeutic settings e.g. examples of working with client groups, examples of ethical dilemmas faced, examples of policies developed using health psychology models/ evidence, examples of limitations that interventions have with specific populations or groups, client case studies etc.
 
It is therefore unlikely that a purely academic/theoretical piece of research would be accepted for this conference unless, for example, the research is focused on health psychology (therapeutic) applied practice, as there are other existing conferences where this type of work can be presented. 

Abstracts do not have to include traditional "data" in order to be accepted, as an abstract that discusses client case studies and or debate ethical/HP practice challenges are of importance to the applied health psychology profession.

Keep your descriptions in questions 4-7 to a maximum of 250 words each per question. Completing the abstract form should be as detailed as possible giving insights into your rationale and methods. Please do not state affiliations or names of collaborators in your abstract body only in Questions 2 and 3 (so they can be anonymised for review purposes), and do not include references.
 
Presentations will be 15 minutes long with 5 minutes allocated for questions. We reserve the right to amend timings if the programming requires it. If an oral presentation has been rejected, you may be offered a poster as an alternative.
 
Submissions will close on 1st November 2018 and then go out for external confidential review.
Outcomes of submissions will be decided by 30th November 2018 and presenters contacted shortly afterwards.
