Burnley Council has reduced its revenue budget by £11. 6 million since 2010. The directly employed workforce has dropped from 591 to 235.

Nevertheless, the council has remained focussed on top strategic priorities, including Burnley’s ‘drive for economic growth’, and has delivered a range of major projects.  These have helped achieved private sector jobs growth locally.

The Council has established our partnership with Liberata, saving around £ 800,000 a year; transferred leisure services to Burnley Leisure, which has saved running costs of around £ 400,000 a year; the new street cleansing and waste contract with Urbaser, which has generated savings of nearly £ 600 000; and a 45 per cent reduction in senior management posts at the council since 2010.
