Introduction

The University of Nottingham is currently conducting research into atrial fibrillation (AF) in giant breeds of dog, looking at its effects and outcomes. In particular we want to look at whether there may be any relationship between AF and the development of blood clots. This heart condition is a common problem in the large breeds of dog such as Irish Wolfhounds, Deerhounds and Great Danes. By completing this questionnaire about your dog which has had or currently has atrial fibrillation you will be providing us with a valuable insight into the condition. The information could be useful in the management of future atrial fibrillation cases, potentially improving the prognosis for the dogs. We thank you in advance for volunteering your time to contribute towards this project by completing the following questionnaire. The survey should only take around 15 minutes to complete. Please complete one questionnaire for each dog that has suffered with AF.

All information provided will be treated with the strictest confidence by the research team and due to the University Data Protection regulations owner and dog details cannot be shared. The results of the study however will be made available once these have been analysed and submitted for publication.

If you have any queries regarding the project please do not hesitate to contact Lowri Heseltine via email (svylh2@nottingham.ac.uk) and we will do our best to answer your questions.
