It’s really important that we spend the money you pay in council tax on the things that matter most to you, your family and your community.

The council is facing enormous reductions in its funding sources over the next few years and our budget proposals set out how we will deal with these changes while protecting vital services.

It's important that we get your views on our plans so that we can make the best decisions.

The main headlines are:

* We have a balanced budget for 2017/18

* There are no plans to cut any services

* We are proposing to increase council tax by 2% (the equivalent of 7p per week for an average Band D property)

* The major investment projects will continue to be delivered this year: Market Walk extension £17m; Chorley Youth Zone £4.8m; Primrose Gardens Retirement Village £9.7m; and Digital Health Park £8.1m

* We are also continuing with investment in retail grants, developing the award-winning events programme and funding PCSOs

If you want to look at the proposals in more detail, you can view the agenda papers, which were discussed at the Council's Executive Cabinet on 19 January 2017 here. You can also see a summary of the information here.
