Budget Consultation 2021-22

Cirencester Town Council is consulting on its proposed budget for 2021-22 and the amount of council tax raised to support local services and projects. Infographics are available at www.cirencester.gov.uk outlining how the council tax is spent and the type of services and community assets it is spent on, along with the draft budget and updated medium term financial plan.

The Town Council needs to raise money through the local council tax as it receives no direct funding from central government or the principal authorities such as Cotswold District Council and Gloucestershire County Council.

We would welcome your views and comments ahead of the Town Council formally debating and approving the budget and local council tax for 2021-22 on Tuesday 12th January at 7pm; the meeting is open to the public and will be held via zoom.
Are you responding to this consultation as a:
What is your postcode:
Do you think it is fair and reasonable to increase the day to day budget by 2.5% (£11,800) in order to cover costs which are often outside of the Council’s direct control in order to maintain services?
Do you think that an increase in the local council tax of 76 pence per month, based on a Band D property, 80% of which directly contributes to meeting the social, economic and environmental needs of the community, is fair and reasonable?
The Town Council receives various requests to extend the Christmas Lights in to other areas of the town to support the local economy and retailers on the fringes of the town centre. Would you support the Town Council doing this in the future?
Are there any challenges and needs relating to the COVID pandemic which you feel the Town Council should take the lead on addressing at a local level in 2021?

Please let us know about the challenges and needs you are aware of:
The Town Council is responsible for in excess of 45 hectares of land and property, some of which have historic value, are scheduled ancient monuments or listed buildings. These are costly to maintain and improve. In order to protect and enhance such assets would you support the Town Council raising a one off increase in the local council tax to do this? For example, an extra £3 per month on a Band D council tax would raise a one off fund of £250,000.
Thank you for completing the survey.  We appreciate you taking the time to give us your feedback and comments.
