Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Chopwell WoodFest, a family event on Sunday 8th July 2018 from 10.30am - 4.00pm in Chopwell Wood to celebrate heritage within the Land of Oak & Iron.
Last year over 1,500 people had a fantastic time trying out traditional heritage skills such as willow weaving and spinning wool, alongside many family activities. Our festival volunteers play a big part in creating a good atmosphere and helping the event goers to get the most out of the activities. By joining our friendly and passionate team you can help us to achieve this.
We have several roles for volunteers:
+ Helping us to prepare for the event – this might involve setting up displays and activities, moving tables and chairs, putting up gazebos and generally helping out local businesses with their stands. We may need your help on Saturday and Sunday.
+ Helping event goers and local businesses park their cars safely and make their way to the event, collecting car park money and entry fees and answering questions.
+ Providing a warm, friendly welcome to all visitors as the public face of the Land of Oak & Iron – answering any questions, running errands and encouraging people to get involved in the events and activities
+ Enabling everyone to enjoy the natural woodlands by picking up litter and managing waste before, during and after the event.
+ Packing up and clearing the site post-event.
In return for your help we will give you a food and drink voucher to spend at one of our specialist catering stands and you and a friend can enjoy free entry. There will be time for you to enjoy the festival and have a go at some of the activities. You can also camp overnight in the Wood on Saturday if you wish.
