You are leading one of the current high-profile, high priority projects for MaPS. The project team are working to full capacity. Headcount is fixed with no budget to recruit additional resource. You are concerned that some milestones may be missed. You are aware there may be expertise among colleagues in other teams that could contribute to the project to meet the timeframe, but it would involve removing individuals from their current team and projects for three months. What steps do you take? Because of the potential disruption that an internal transfer may cause for individuals and the business, put in a business case for new external resource. Highlight the importance of your project in meeting organisational goals and present your case to the Executive Leadership Team. Speak to the Senior Management Team to find out who might have relevant expertise and ask for their views on the impact of moving the individuals across. Speak to the line manager of the individuals to check they would be happy to move. With the manager, inform the individuals and support them with the transfer. Find out who has the right skillset and contact the individuals, explaining that they have been identified due to their expertise and that your project could help build their knowledge and enhance their career opportunities at MaPS. Sell the benefits to get them onboard. Once they have agreed, firm up the details with their line manager to arrange the transfer. OK CLICK HERE TO PROGRESS TO NEXT PAGE
