Consultation - Removal of limits on hackney carriage vehicle licences issued

Hyndburn Borough Council currently maintains a limit on the number of hackney carriage vehicles that we licence and that is currently set at 60.

We are now considering whether we should remove the limits on the number of hackney carriage vehicle licences that we issue given the current climate and the numbers of complaints that we receive from people who are struggling to get the services of a Taxi particularly late at night.

Further, we are considering that if we were to remove the limits and issue more hackney carriage plates, we would only issue licences to purpose-built or professionally adapted, with certification, wheelchair accessible vehicles.
