Views of Parents and Carers on having a child with special needs

Thank you for taking part in this survey. 

 

I am collecting the views of parents and carers of disabled children/children with special needs in order to provide advice, support and information for other parents in a similar situation.  Many parents of disabled children face additional associated challenges in practical, physical and emotional terms. As a parent of a disabled child myself, I am aware of how isolated families can feel when life doesn't always follow an expected, mainstream, non-disabled path.

 

It is my aim for the website, www.affinityhub.uk, to provide solace to parents by hearing from other families' experiences that may mirror their own, as well as signposting them to organisations, books and research that may be helpful.  The site also lists private counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists who have expertise in this area who may be able to provide emotional support in times of need.

By adding your comments to the survey I am assuming your consent to them being quoted (anonymously) on the website www.affinityhub.uk for as long as the site is up and running as well as on social media.  You can contact me at any time to remove or amend your quotes and I will do so within 24 hours.  Your comments will remain anonymous; I will not include your name or email address on the site.  It would be helpful to have the sex, age and diagnosis (or areas of difficulty if there is no diagnosis) of your child with special needs, which would then be mentioned after the quote (i.e. mum of son, 8, with autism), but this is optional.  

By providing your email address you are consenting to me contacting you to thank you for taking part.   I will keep your email address securely for any future correspondence (which would be unlikely but I may make contact in the future, no more than once a year, for research or to check that you're still happy for your quote to remain on the site).  If you would rather not be contacted please let me know and I will delete your email address from my confidential records. I will not disclose your personal information to any third parties.
