Does the use of technology impact the risk of addiction to exercise in ultra-endurance athletes?

You are invited to participate in this study if you train or compete in ultra-endurance sports such as Triathlon (half Ironman distance or over), Running (marathon distance or over) or Cycling (100k or over). Before you decide whether or not you would like to take part, it is important that you understand why the study is being conducted and what it will involve. Please take the time to read the following information carefully. Participation is completely voluntary. The study is being run through the University of Central Lancashire.

You are being asked to participate in a study on the impact of technology on the training habits of ultra endurance athletes. With so many new technological tools being launched each year their impact on athletes has not been studied in much depth to date and understanding if this is an area which may help or hinder the health of athletes is important to understand how we promote exercise effectively and safely and support athletes.

Participation in this study is completely voluntary and should cause you no harm either psychologically or physically. You may decline to participate now, or withdraw at any time while completing the survey or afterwards for any reason.

The information you give will be handled confidentially. You can be anonymous. You will only need to give your name and contact details if you are happy to take part in a follow up interview or you would like to receive personal feedback on your results. If you do give your name and contact details they will only be used for the purposes of this study and will be deleted once the study is complete.

Please read this consent agreement carefully before you decide to participate in the study.
