About NHS Highland's duties and the Draft Gaelic Language Plan

NHS Highland has a statutory duty under the Gaelic Language (Scotland) Act 2005 to play its part in promoting the language.  It is also a requirement to carry out a public consultation on the draft Gaelic Language Plan.

The Gaelic language is used in our communities and by NHS staff.  It is also an important part of our national identity and as such, demands equal respect.  Our Plan will enable us to communicate positive messages and facilitate opportunity for Gaelic development throughout NHS Highland's Board area.  It sets out a formal structure, including roles and responsibilities for how we will implement actions.  The draft has been informed by a staff survey and will be further shaped through this public consultation.  You can access the plan here: http://www.nhshighland.scot.nhs.uk/publications/pages/gaeliclanguageplan.aspx
