This session will look at the latest developments in school funding and looks ahead at the possible impact. We will also look at approaches to improving your financial performance and to making sure you are getting the best out of your resources.

C. The Business Management role: Income and expenditure management - Donia Knott and Claire Edwards

The workshop will explore the role of the Business manager and financial management of the school. We will firstly examine the breadth of the role, incorporating budget controls, procurement management, strategies for repairs and maintenance and staffing structures. We will then address income-generating strategies including fundraising, community engagement, grants and lettings.
D. Understanding the effective use of Pupil Premium - Marcus Cooper and Felicity Evans

Schools are facing ongoing challenges on how to spend Pupil Premium funding effectively. The workshop will allow you to return to school with ideas to put into practice straightaway.

E. Role of the Executive Head - Ali Pepper

There are an increasing number of schools working together within academy trusts, federations and other partnerships. In this seminar, we will explore the role of an Executive Headteacher, how it might differ from the traditional headteacher role and how governors can work with and support an Executive Headteacher.
F. Children, Youth & Mental Health - The Story So Far - Kieran Murphy

Children’s and young people’s mental health is something that we hear so much about, but what are the issues, what do schools need to think about and more importantly, what can we do to change the status quo. In this session you will hear from the Hitchin based youth organisation Phase, which have been working on young people’s mental wellbeing for over 15 years.
G. Maximising the recruitment opportunities in your school - Anne Taylor and Toni Argent

This HFL School Recruitment session aims to guide you through maximising your Teach in Herts microsite, your own school website and social media channels to recruit.
