Location: Eureka! The National Children's Museum: Discovery Rd, Halifax, West Yorkshire, HX1 2NE
Time: Mon 11 February 10:00 – 16:00 GMT

The BES will provide a free for members training workshop in 2019, focusing on how to communicate your science with young audiences and families.

The workshop will be beneficial for both beginners and more experienced communicators, providing a grounding in science communication and learning psychology for younger/family audiences, examining different methods of engagement, how to communicate clearly with children and family audiences, and giving members considerable time to develop their own activities into physical products with one-on-one advice. There will be opportunities to develop these ideas into physical products after the workshop and deliver them at at the Eureka! museum and at BES events in future.

Hosted within the marvellously interactive Eureka! children's museum in West Yorkshire, this hands-on workshop will be led by Chris Snowden, STEM & Public Engagement Manager at Eureka!, a specialist in communicating complex issues to young children and their parents using exciting live demonstrations.

Attendees are encouraged to develop their activity ideas further with the BES after the training workshop for opportunities to deliver them at the museum and BES public engagement events in future.

This training workshop is free to attend, and lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Attendees will need to cover their own travel expenses, but please contact Chris Jeffs if you may require financial assistance. We cannot cover costs for travel outside of the UK.

There are only 15 spaces available for this workshop, which will be awarded on a first come first served basis pending application approval by BES staff. Apply before Fri 1 February 18:00 GMT to avoid disappointment!

The BES will directly notify you via email regarding the outcome of your application. This may take 1 - 2 working days.
