Sugar Smart Durham Consultation |
About the Sugar Smart campaign
We are eating too much sugar and it is bad for our health. The recommended daily intake of free sugar* is a maximum of 7 teaspoons for adults and 5-6 teaspoons for children.
*sugar added to food at home or by manufacturer, as well as sugar naturally present in honey, syrups and fruit juices. It does not include sugar naturally present in milk, whole fruit and vegetables
On average, adults are currently eating twice this amount and children are eating three times as much.
Completing this survey will help us to find out the best ways to help people across County Durham to become more aware, have healthier options and reduce their risk of serious conditions such as type 2 diabetes and obesity.
