The PPF published the first Purple Book in 2006, with the aim of showing the risk profile of the defined benefit pensions universe. We know the book is widely used in the industry and would welcome feedback on how we could improve and enhance the publication.

This survey provides an opportunity for you to feed into future publications of the Purple Book by telling us what you would like to see. We're very grateful for your feedback.

Question Title

* 8. We are considering removing two types of information from the Purple Book. We'd like to hear if this would be a problem for you.

Chapter 4 – Scheme funding
Any figures and tables relating to buy-out liabilities (figures 4.4, 4.7, 4.8, 4.13 and 4.14). Our calculations are only an estimate of the buy-out liabilities and contain numerous simplifications. To avoid these figures being misinterpreted we plan to remove them.

If this section of the Purple Book were not present in future editions, would this cause you any problems?

Question Title

* 9. Chapter 7 – Asset allocation
Any figures and tables relating to simple averages (figure 7.3 and parts of figures 7.4 and 7.5). We do not believe simple average asset breakdowns are meaningful apart from looking at the skew of the distribution so we plan to remove them.

If this section of the Purple Book were not present in future editions, would this cause you any problems?
