Introduction and background
Coventry City Council is proposing to update the process for Locally Listing ‘heritage assets’ (generally historic buildings).
Local Listing gives a way for local councils and communities to identify and celebrate historic buildings, archaeological sites and designed landscapes to ensure that they are given due consideration in the planning process when change is being proposed. There is a need for a more transparent process and clearer guidance, to create a more robust Local List. This is in accordance with the guidance and best-practice given by Historic England.
We are consulting on the following documents:
The criteria document sets out further background to the Local List process, and describes the criteria that will be used to consider how a heritage asset is assessed.
The Nomination Form will be used by members of the community to nominate a heritage asset for inclusion to the List.
The deadline for responses is March 14th 2017
