Introduction

Destination Herefordshire – Be Part of the Future!

Is your business involved in retail, food and drink, providing accommodation, tourism,  attractions or food manufacturing. Then you should be involved in helping us to reinvigorate the  Visit Herefordshire brand and how we manage and market Herefordshire so that it truly fulfils its potential.

Herefordshire has many great assets, many great businesses and many organisations working to put it on the map.. Confidence in Herefordshire’s visitor economy remains high. It however faces many of the typical challenges that destinations face, such as, local, regional, national and international competition for market share and visitors, access and infrastructure issues, modernising and attracting investment, developing people and skills, engagement with residential and business communities and organisational and funding stability.

It is against this backdrop and the desire to evolve and succeed that the concept of a Business Improvement District (BID) is being investigated. We are consulting with businesses about their priorities and the best way forward for a well-funded and sustainable County tourism body. With the uncertainty on the future delivery of Visit Herefordshire, the Herefordshire Sustainable Food and Tourism Partnership (HSFTP) are undertaking a feasibility study on the possibility of creating a Herefordshire Destination Business Improvement District (BID). This would be a new strategic and forward-thinking business led delivery body with the potential of generating over £500,000 pa to deliver the destination management of the County

HSFTP is a coalition of key individuals, organisations and networks committed to providing strategic oversight for the food and tourism sectors.  Its members include tourism advisers, the Duchy of Cornwall, National Farmers Union, Visit Herefordshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce, Herefordshire Rural Hub, the Rural and Farming Network, Herefordshire Council and the Brightspace Foundation.

The feasibility study will establish if a Destination BID for Herefordshire is an attainable objective. To look at some examples of this, please visit:
