As a carer, you may be eligible for support from the council. You can request an assessment from the council to establish your needs. The amount of money that the council pays towards your support is called a personal budget. The funds may be managed by the council to provide services. Alternatively, the funds may be paid to you so that you can spend it as decided by you and agreed with the council. This is known as direct payments. Support is also provided to carers through funding to services in the community such Southwark Carers.

Southwark is reviewing our offer to carers with the aim of providing a better experience of services and improving our support to carers to help you look after the people you care for. The aim of this survey is to help Southwark understand what kind of support carers need and how personal budgets can be allocated.

We are grateful for your time in responding to this survey which will help Southwark Council work better with you. This survey will take no more than a few minutes. Your responses will be kept confidential and anonymous.
