Guildhall Heritage Hub and Market Place Improvements

What would you like to see in the Market Place and Guildhall ?

Thetford Town Council has been awarded a lottery grant of £168,000 for the refurbishment of the Guildhall and improvements to the market place. Breckland District Council has also given a grant of £10,000 towards the project. The Town Council would like to build your ideas into the proposed activities and improvements.

* 3. There is money in the lottery bid for the refurbishment of the Cornell Fison water trough which is currently just a flowerbed. (This is the granite trough beside the war memorial). As well as using the trough for a flowerbed, do you think we should put in a tap that allows the public to fill up drinking water bottles?

* 4. The new access ramp for the Guildhall will mean changes to the layout of the market place? How would you like the market place to be developed in the future?

That the Market Place does not change and be kept as a car park with unrestricted use.

That the market place has restricted parking for paid parking for 2 hour shopping and free disabled parking. (To increase footfall in the shops).

That the market place becomes a pedestrian area with more permanent affordable market stalls (Like Norwich Market)

That the market place becomes a flexible pedestrian area for seating, events, and pop up markets
