The Town Council element of your Council Tax this year is £171.33 (average Band D property) which equates to £3.29 per week. This makes up the annual precept which is the bulk of the Town Council's income.
The budget is allocated to core functions such as maintaining and managing the Cemetery, holding committee and Full Council meetings, maintaining and running our properties, developing the Visit Totnes brand and opening the Tourist Information Point.
In addition we devote a section of the funds to projects and priorities brought forward by the community. These include a Community Grants Fund, supporting the Caring Town and Citizens Advice Service from the Mansion, developing a year round programme of community based events in the town (including taking over the management of the Christmas Festival nights in December), facilitating the drafting of the Neighbourhood Plan and paying South Hams District Council to keep the public toilets free to use year round.
