Meeting the Challenges - Scotland's Island Communities

In recognising the unique challenges and strengths found within the islands, the Scottish Government has outlined its commitment to ensuring island communities are able to overcome obstacles, take forward aspirations and have a stronger voice within the Scottish and UK Governments and the EU.

The ‘Empowering Scotland’s Island Communities’ prospectus was published in 2014 and followed by the re-convening of the Island Areas Ministerial Working Group. An ‘Island’s Bill’ is planned for 2016. These are among the actions that the Scottish Islands Federation (SIF) has campaigned for over a number of years.

To help us bring your concerns and aspirations to those with responsibilities for the islands we would be very grateful if you could please complete this survey. The information gathered will be invaluable in shaping SIF’s future activity, giving an informed voice on the issues that matter as well as highlighting common challenges and ideas that could be shared and tackled jointly across the islands.
