The RSPH Level 4 Diploma in Healthcare Science (Anatomical Pathology technology) has now been in use by centres for more than two years, so it is approaching its mid-point review.

The review helps RSPH to determine how well the qualification is performing and if there is anything that we need to do at this stage to improve it.

The objective of the qualification is to equip candidates with the knowledge and skills to assist with non-standard post mortem examinations, carry out a range of advanced and non-standard mortuary procedures, be able to train staff and understand the management of a range of mortuary functions.

* 27. The qualification has 441 guided learning hours. This is the time that tutors have face to face contact with the learner. Depending on the unit the guided learning hours range from 27 to 60 hours. How many hours do you think are appropriate for face to face delivery of this qualification and for the individual units?

* 28. The total qualification time is  1,191 hours. This means that learners are  expected to do private study or practice their skills for 750 hours without their tutor. Depending on the unit  the total unit time ranges from 95 to 150 hours, and the additional private study  from 50 hours to 105 hours. Do you expect your learners to do any additional study? If yes, how many additional hours would you expect your learners to do for each of the units and for the qualification as a whole?
