During pregnancy and after the birth of a child, women are at a higher risk of experiencing mental health problems. We want to explore Northern Ireland women’s experiences of perinatal mental health problems to improve the experience and care they receive at this time. The term ‘perinatal’ refers to the period before and after childbirth, usually defined as the time of pregnancy up to and including one year after give birth.
