Apprenticeships are a job with a training element that allow new and existing staff to develop occupational competence in a specific field of work.  Groups of employers, known as trailblazers, are working together to develop a new apprenticeship for the Arts and Cultural sector to support new entrants and diversify the pool of candidates that are considered for work in the industry.  This will also allow employers to use their new apprenticeship vouchers for a sector-specific apprenticeship should they be an apprenticeship levy payer.

The Registrar (Creative & Cultural) has been developed so far by a number of employers. To ensure it is fit for purpose and can be used by the widest possible number of organisations we'd like to hear your views on what has been developed so far.  It's important that this apprenticeship standard accurately reflects the skills, knowledge and behaviours that employers would expect someone to be competent in by the end of the apprenticeship.  A copy of the standard is attached.

The employer group, who have worked together since late 2016 to produce the content in this standard, consists of representatives from across the sector and includes The National Gallery, Birmingham Museums Trust, Ashmolean, Imperial War Museum and supported by the UK Registrars Group. They have submitted an Expression of Interest which Government have approved and are now in the final stages of the development of their standard.
