Introduction

In mid-July 2017 the Bone Cancer Research Trust announced The Biggest Ever Commitment To Primary Bone Cancer, our 2017 – 2022 strategy, including our new strategic aims and objectives for our four pillars of work; research, information, awareness and support.  Our strategic aim for awareness during this period is:
We will save more lives and increase survival rates through raising awareness of primary bone cancer amongst the public, healthcare professionals, researchers and policy makers.

Since 2017 we have been working towards this aim and in 2018 we released our Time to Diagnosis Survey, which gave us vital evidence on the delays that our patients experience.  Since then, we have used this data as the foundation on which to develop plans to deliver our awareness objectives and inform how we can work to improve the diagnostic journey.

Now, we have teamed up with Children with Cancer UK to launch the Bone Cancer Awareness Initiative, a multi-faceted campaign to educate all key healthcare professionals across the UK. The first phase of this campaign is to collect evidence on the site specific symptoms of all forms of primary bone cancer and tumour, to ensure we have an exhaustive list to educate professionals on how to make an accurate and timely diagnosis.

Our Primary Bone Cancer Symptoms Survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete.  Please try to answer as many questions as possible to allow us to fully understand issue with the diagnosis of primary bone cancer patients.  Thank you.
