McBain Medal 2025
The McBain Medal is an annual award established by SCI’s Colloid and Surface Chemistry Group (CSCG) and RSC's Colloid and Interface Science Group (CISG) to honour a younger scientist who has made a meritorious contribution to colloid & interface science – expanding beyond the traditional boundaries of the field to include those applying colloid and interface science in areas such as physics, engineering, and biological, medical, formulation, polymer, ‘nano’ and ‘soft matter’ science.
Eligible candidates should be working in the UK in the earlier stages of their scientific career, typically within 5 years of attaining their doctorate (or equivalent degree), and will have advanced the science or technology of the field in a significant way.
There are two methods of nomination:
Method 1: The nomination form should be completed by a proposer and seconder (who must be members of either the CISG or CSSG groups) nominating a candidate fitting the eligibility criteria.
Method 2: Self nomination for the McBain award is permitted. In such cases, the candidate should provide the contact details of two referees below, with their permission. The referees must be members of either the CSCG or CISG groups.
Nominations should be received no later than 8 December for consideration shortly thereafter. The successful candidate will be invited to present at the McBain Medal Award meeting, which usually takes place in mid December the following year.
