Racism in Society Survey

* You are invited to participate in an online survey. This research project is being conducted by the research consultancy Simetrica-Jacobs in partnership with the London School of Economics & Political Science

What is the purpose of the survey?
We are interested in understanding how people have experienced racism in the UK. In this survey, we will introduce some sensitive topics to you. If you, at any time, feel unsettled by the survey content, please immediately stop the survey.

Do I have to take part?
No, your participation in this survey is voluntary. We would welcome your input but there is no pressure for you to do so. You may refuse to take part in the research or exit the survey at any time. The survey is confidential and should not be shared publicly.

What do I have to do?
We would like you to answer the questions in the survey as honestly as you can. It should take you about 20 minutes to complete.

Will my taking part in this project be kept confidential?
Yes your participation in this project and data will be kept confidential. We will ask you to provide some personal information, such as age, gender, household income and region of residence, but this information will only be used to ensure survey respondents are representative of the local population. All the information that we collect during the course of the research will be kept strictly confidential. We do not collect identifying information such as your name, email address or IP address. You will not be identifiable in any reports or publications and your data will be used at an aggregated level with the other respondents from the survey. Any data collected will be stored and processed under strict compliance with the UK Data Protection Act 2018. This data will be used only for research purposes by Simetrica-Jacobs, (an independent research organisation) and the London School of Economics.

What will happen to the data?
The data is collected in an anonymised format. It will remain within Simetrica-Jacobs and will not be shared externally.
