Velindre Satellite Radiotherapy Unit at Nevill Hall Hospital
In order for Velindre Cancer Centre to reach as many patients as possible, we are working with your health boards to establish a satellite radiotherapy unit at Nevill Hall Hospital in Abergavenny. As many of you know, radiotherapy patients travel to VCC everyday – Monday to Friday – for up to six weeks for their treatment programme. By establishing a satellite unit in Nevill Hall we can care for patients closer to home, minimise travel times to the unit and ensure patients receive the same, highly respected Velindre treatment, support and care from our staff.
Across south east Wales, approximately 4,500 patients a year are referred to VCC for radiotherapy treatment. The new unit will deliver safe, high quality services but we also want to make sure that it delivers a first class patient experience throughout their treatment journey.
We have worked with our health board partners, as well as patient groups on what we need to include within the unit, but now we would like you to play a part in influencing its design.
The following questions plot your journey to and through our proposed satellite radiotherapy unit, hopefully giving you an idea of what it would be like to visit the unit.
Completing the survey will take no longer than 10 minutes and all responses will be considered as we finalise the design for the Velindre satellite radiotherapy unit.
