Welcome to Bradford Grammar School's survey for Old Bradfordians and Friends

Dear Old Bradfordians and Friends

The community of former pupils, current and former parents, and wider friends continues to be extremely important to everyone at Bradford Grammar School. Your experiences of BGS, whether recent or more distant, will have hopefully played an important part in your life, as they do mine both as the Headmaster and as a parent of a ‘spirited’ Year 2 Clock House pupil. One current sixth former recently said that 'the School has taught me to seize every opportunity and believe in my own ability and how far it can take me' and these words which resonate with our motto ‘Hoc Age’ fill me with great pride and optimism for the future.

Everyone who once walked the halls of Bradford Grammar School as a pupil, parent or supporter of what we do remains a welcome member of our wider community, our school family, for life. So as we seek to sustain and develop our position as an outstanding independent school in the north it is vitally important that we continue to understand how you would like to interact with us and also the extent to which you might like to support the School and its current and future pupils.

This is the first time ever that we have carried out a comprehensive survey of all Old Bradfordians, parents and friends and we would be tremendously grateful if you could spare some time to share your thoughts with us.

This survey also forms part of an ongoing dialogue to let people know about our approach to privacy and data protection. To ensure that we follow best practice and the changing legislation which applies to all charities, including schools like ours, we will be contacting everyone on our database to confirm that they want to hear from us going forwards. Whilst this may appear a little bureaucratic it is essential to get this right and I’m grateful for your support in these matters.

More broadly, any information you may wish to share with us via the survey will be of great value as we take Bradford Grammar School forward and provide the very best education and life-changing opportunities for our current pupils and generations to come. We will publish a summary of findings later in the spring. We are keeping this survey running as it has been so useful and enabled us to engage with so many people that we had lost contact with.

I would like to personally thank you for your help and I hope you will want to continue to support us and be part of the BGS family.

Yours, with every good wish

Simon Hinchliffe
Headmaster
