Thank you for agreeing to take part in this survey. This PhD research project aims to discover practitioners' and young people's (aged 16-19) awareness of and attitudes towards online gig work such as on Uber and Taskrabbit, and to what extent they believe that they will be relevant to their future careers. This survey will form the first phase of the study, to discover practitioners' knowledge and provide a foundation for the later, school-based phases of the research. Please fill in the survey if you work with this age group and practise in the UK.
For the purposes of this study, the term “gig economy” refers to money earning activites that take place through online platforms. This could mean labour platforms, where people are hired on a “gig” basis (e.g. Uber, Taskrabbit, and Deliveroo) or goods platforms, where people can sell items (or access to items), like Airbnb and Etsy.
The survey should take no more than 15 minutes to complete and you will be asked a range of questions about the use of ICT in your practice, and the online gig economy.
Completing the survey is voluntary and you may end the survey at any time by exiting the browser. You have the right to withdraw from this survey for up to two weeks afterwards. Please be aware that we can only withdraw you from the data if you have provided your contact details at the end as we will only be able to identify you from that. Your information will be stored confidentially, and no identifying information about you or your organisation will be reported in the research; individual answers will not be shared with your organisation.
