The NHS London Procurement Partnership is continuing the Patient Access Scheme/s (PAS) project initiated in 2013, which has now been expanded to encompass all PAS, both NICE-approved and those in the CDF.

NICE-approved PAS are detailed here: https://www.nice.org.uk/about/what-we-do/patient-access-schemes-liaison-unit/list-of-technologies-with-approved-patient-access-schemes
To sign up for the NICE-maintained Operational PAS Update email list, send an e-mail to PASLUMail@nice.org.uk with ‘Operational PAS update’ in the subject line.

The initial data gathering exercises, for the manual or non-discount schemes, enabled us to identify which schemes were being taken up by each trust across London. We aim, with your help, to make this a routine exercise for all PAS so that we can continually assess the cost avoidance derived and thus the benefit of the schemes for London NHS trusts.

The information received from previous data collection exercises indicates that there is a very high level of uptake, with a total cost avoidance for both discount and manual schemes of approximately £69 million in the 2015/2016 financial year. It shows that whereas the cost avoidance from simple discount PAS can be quantified accurately from usage data, assessing the other schemes requires more detailed information, which is only available from each trust.

Your help would be greatly appreciated to facilitate the collection of this data.

All information provided will remain confidential between the LPP and the trust providing the information. Our aim is not to criticise trusts that appear not to have taken up schemes for one reason or another but to assess the extent of uptake, understand the reasons for non-uptake, and provide support to maximise appropriate uptake.

Note that this online survey has been separated into cancer and non-cancer PAS.
Please provide data for the 2016/2017 financial year (04/2016 to 03/2017).

We would be grateful if you could provide the information requested in this survey by 31st October 2017.

If you have any further questions regarding the project please do not hesitate to contact Pauline McCalla  pauline.mccalla@nhs.net

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS ONLINE SURVEY MUST BE COMPLETED IN ONE SITTING; IT CANNOT BE SAVED PART WAY THROUGH AND STARTED AGAIN LATER.

FOR THE PURPOSES OF GATHERING THE DATA, WE RECOMMEND PRINTING OUT THE AUDIT TOOL FROM: http://www.lpp.nhs.uk/categories/medicines-optimisation-pharmacy-procurement/secondary-care/patient-access-scheme(s)-project/, AND ENTERING THE DATA INTO THIS ONLINE SURVEY ONCE DATA COLLECTION HAS BEEN COMPLETED.

 Thank you for your cooperation.
