Introduction

The partnership between the NFWI and England Netball, to run a national programme of Walking Netball to all WI members in England, continues to flourish and demand from members wanting to play grows every week! The project is managed by England Netball with full support given by the NFWI. This exciting programme is aimed at all - whatever their age, ability and fitness; our aim is to support all of our members to get fitter, healthier and have fun in a supportive environment.

The England Netball and NFWI partnership has helped to establish over 150 WI WN groups with over 200 WI members training to become Walking Netball hosts to sustain the session.

As you may already know, Walking Netball is netball, but at a walking pace. Perfect for people who are injured or are currently not as fit or active as they would like to be (or may have been in the past).

An England Netball host will support interested WIs to run a programme of 20 Walking Netball sessions, either weekly or fortnightly and will provide you with netball equipment. Two WI members are encouraged to train as WN hosts to continue to run and sustain the WI WN group once the 20 sessions have been completed (funded by the individual/WI). It is a really versatile programme so you don't need posts or a traditional court if the space isn't available to you.

If you are interested in setting up a WN group within your WI, please complete the survey. If you are interested in finding out about existing WI WN groups near you, please have a look on MyWI.
