Enabling Pet Care in the Community Research
Over the last 50 years, NAWT has welcomed thousands of homeless animals into its rescue centres for a variety of reasons.
Many people believe that the hardest part of rescue is taking in neglected or mistreated animals, but this isn’t always the case. With those animals, we can at least feel sure that the future they have in rescue and then with a new family is going to be much happier than the past they are leaving behind.
In fact, often the hardest part of rescue is accepting animals from devastated loving owners, who have fallen on hard times and simply can’t afford to offer their pet the life they deserve. It is those responsible people, who want nothing but the best for their animal, which NAWT would like to develop a service for, so that more responsible pet owners can stay together with their pet.
Furthermore, NAWT has a great deal of older supporters who have previously owned pets and who could offer a perfect home to an animal in rescue. However, the cost implications of caring for a pet and a worry of what would happen to the animal should it outlive them puts many of these would-be-perfect owners off welcoming another pet into their home.
As part of the preparation to develop a project that addresses these concerns, we’d like to hear from you; our fellow animal lovers, pet owners, and members of our surrounding communities. The feedback you give will help us to shape a project that offers the most vital services to the people most in need.
Thank you for your time and your help to create a charitable service that will be all about Enabling Pet Care in the Community.
