The Pipe Factory at The Barras in Calton has been saved by a community partnership called the Friends of The Pipe Factory CIC.  It is a beautiful historic B-listed building, occupying a prominent position in this important part of Glasgow. But it is in need of some renovation and improvement to make it open to all.

We have a big vision for the building and want to open it up for people to use and enjoy.

We are particularly focused on making The Pipe Factory work for the local community of Calton, as well as young people, and those hoping to work in Glasgow’s creative sector. These are the three key communities that we hope the building will serve.

We have done some early work to protect the condition and potential of the building, and are now developing plans to make accessible and renovate all five floors.  An essential part of the plan is to establish your needs and ascertain the level of community support for the project.

This survey is being carried out on our behalf by consultants Community Enterprise working together with the young people of Articulate Cultural Trust, who are one of the founding members of The Friends.

The survey is designed to find out what you, as members of our community, need in terms of facilities and the extent to which, if our project is successful, you might be able to support future activities in the various spaces within the building.

All information gathered will be treated in the strictest confidence.  Paper copies of the survey can be provided on request .  The survey can also be accessed online at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/The_Pipe_Factory and will be open until 7 October 2021.  All information gathered will be confidential. All survey responses (including those collected on paper) are recorded on Survey Monkey whose privacy policy can be viewed here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/mp/legal/privacy-policy/.  Community Enterprise's privacy policy can be viewed here: http://www.communityenterprise.co.uk/privacy-policy/
