Introduction

The National Forest Survey

Did you know your business is in the National Forest?

The National Forest is right in heart of the country, embracing 200 square miles of the Midlands. It spans across parts of Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Staffordshire and aims to link the two ancient Forests of Charnwood and Needwood. Its main towns and villages include Burton upon Trent, Coalville, Swadlincote and Ashby-de-la-Zouch. (See map below)

Established in 1995, the National Forest Company is responsible for leading the creation of the National Forest, working in partnership with landowners, businesses, public, private and voluntary organisations and local communities to deliver and champion the shared vision for the Forest. We are a charitable company limited by guarantee.

The National Forest is one of the boldest environmental regeneration projects in the world, we are truly transforming a landscape from black to green. Since the early 1990s, we’ve transformed 200 square miles of the Midlands through the planting of 8.7 million trees, increasing Forest cover from 6% to more than 20%.

We believe the benefits of the National Forest should be felt by everyone. By partnering with us, businesses are becoming part of the natural regeneration story and we would like to know more about how we can work with you to create prosperous and sustainable communities that can compete and thrive.

This survey explores what would be beneficial to your business and your area in the Forest. The survey will only take about 10 minutes to complete so please let us have your thoughts. Its part of a wider feasibility report and consultation process with other ways for you to get your ideas heard such as focus groups and one to one interviews.

The Mosaic Partnership, local place management Company working across the UK and abroad as been commissioned to carry out this work. It is one of the leading consultancies in the UK in this field.
