Consultation re Traineeships and work experience

A traineeship is an education and training programme with work experience that unlocks the great potential of young people, aged 16 to 24, and prepares them for their future careers by helping them to become ‘work ready’.  At its core are high-quality work experience placements, work preparation training, and English and maths teaching and qualifications if needed, giving young people the skills and experience that employers are looking for, helping them secure an apprenticeship or other job in the future.  Trainees are not paid, and there is no cost to the employer apart from time.

Traineeships have been around for 3 years across all sectors but have not been a huge success. We would like to investigate this further to understand if and how traineeships could be relevant to and valued by employers in the adult social care sector.
