Welcome
Frome Town Council wants to make it easier for local people to build their own homes. In our Neighbourhood Plan we have introduced policies that actively encourage more self build homes and community-led housing, especially new homes that are more affordable and energy efficient.
To help realise our plan, the Council needs to establish exactly what sort of homes are needed and where they could be built. We need to gather details about local people and people with a local connection who are keen to build, and the sort of homes they want. We will use the information to help identify suitable sites and opportunities for those people that have registered. This survey aims to record two things:

We need to gather details about local people and people with a local connection who are keen to build, and the sort of homes they want. We will use the information to help identify suitable sites and opportunities for those people that have registered. This survey aims to record two things:
- The broad level of demand from people keen to organise the construction of their own homes anywhere in Frome Town Council’s catchment area.
- Information about those people specifically interested in building a home on the Little Keyford Lane site.
Please note:
- Frome Town Council cannot guarantee that a suitable plot will be identified, or become available.
- The data you provide is being collected by The Community Council for Somerset on behalf of Frome Town Council and will be recorded in the Frome Town Council Self Build Register of Interest. Anonymised, collated data from the register may be published by the Council in reports or other publicly accessible material. The information on the register may also be shared with officers of Mendip District Council.
- We will not pass identifiable information or personal details from the register onto others without your consent. The information is collected by Frome Town Council as data controller in accordance with the data protection principles in the Data Protection Act 1998.
- You can have your details removed from the Register at any time by making a request in writing to Frome Town Council.
