Caring for those who care for us

Each year more than 12.7 million healthcare workers in Europe are exposed to hazardous cytotoxic drugs, which are mainly used to treat cancer. These drugs cause cancer, gene damage and reproductive problems in those who care for us.  Occupational exposure to cytotoxic drugs causes thousands of additional deaths from cancer and tens of thousands more miscarriages, fertility problems and birth defects each year in healthcare workers, patients and their carers.
