Businesses located in commercial premises within York city centre that are not legally required to pay the York BID levy are invited to apply for voluntary membership.

Voluntary members within the BID area can access the full range of BID services and benefits for an annual fee equivalent to 1.6% of their rateable value, capped at a minimum of £160.

Applications from businesses outside the BID area will also be considered on a case-by-case basis, taking into account location and programme suitability.

TERMS & CONDITIONS:

Eligibility: Applications are open to businesses occupying commercial premises and registered for national non-domestic rates. Applicants must be authorised to act on behalf of the business and may be required to provide evidence.
Fee: Charged at 1.6% of the 2023 rateable value, with a minimum annual fee of £160.
Renewal & Billing: Membership renews automatically on 1 April each year unless cancelled in advance. Fees are invoiced annually in advance.
Non-payment: York BID may suspend or cancel membership and withdraw services if payment is not received within agreed terms.
Cancellation: Membership may be cancelled at any time by notifying York BID.
Refunds: Fees are non-refundable in all circumstances.
Outside BID Area: Applications from businesses outside the BID area will be considered case by case. Fees will reflect size and proximity.
Approval: York BID reserves the right to accept or decline applications and may refer them to the BID Board.
Amendments: Terms may be updated at any time, with reasonable efforts made to notify members of significant changes.
Governance: Voluntary members cannot be Board Directors, company members, or vote in BID ballots.
