The Fisheries Local Action Group (FLAG) Programme is a process of using funding to help fishermen and fishing communities tackle local issues. This survey was carried out in June and July 2016 as part of a proposal to access FLAG funding for the North of the Tyne area. This includes 14 distinct fishing communities and 12 active fishing ports - from Berwick-upon-Tweed (in the North) to North Shields (in the South). The funding application was submitted to the Marine Management Organisation on 4 July 2016. A decision is expected in Autumn 2016. For more information about the North of the Tyne FLAG please contact Sarah Kidd (economic and inclusion policy team at Northumberland County Council) by email sarah.kidd@northumberland.gov.uk
